Vocabulary

I've always wanted to extend my vocabulary, but ALWAYS forget what the word means or not confident enough to use it. Once again, I'm inspired by my child.

My mom taught me this word and used it to describe my kids:
lo·qua·cious

[loh-kwey-shuhs]
–adjective
1.
talking or tending to talk much or freely; talkative; chattering; babbling; garrulous:
a loquacious dinner guest.
2.
characterized by excessive talk; wordy: easily the most loquacious play of the season.

So one day, I mentioned it to Skylar and told her that Jaden was "loquacious". So she began using it. It took her a few tries to pronounce it and always used it in reference to Jaden.
But last Sunday at church, we were in the fellowship hall during our "coffee and snack time" between church and SS and was indeed very loud. She turned to me and said, "Mom, it's loquacious in here". I loved that moment!

So I thought I would pass along a new vocabulary word to all of you, assuming you don't already know it. It's a word that can actually be used in day-to-day talking.
I'm going to try and make an effort to learn one new word a week and USE it. Maybe I'll post some of them as I learn. Is that even interesting to anyone? PLEASE POST!

  1. It is VERY interesting to me! I use to love Reader's Digest for that reason. It always had those vocab words that I didn't know. But, I could never remember them either! Hope I can remember this word. Kids are amazing what their little sponge brains remember!
